End of my first year of posts

well, I managed to post eight times this year! I think that is great for a newbie.  I have a few more blocks to make and I need to put my quilt together. I still have quite a few ufo's to complete, but I am happy. to say I was able to put a few into use.  I still have 30 more days! let's see how I end up. Happy Sewing!

national sewing month

Happy to be in the midst of many sewing adventures! I finished another UFO completed my September blocks, and signed up for the Craftsy serger class. that is shaping up to be a wonderful investment. I have had my machine for about 4 years, and I have learned more about it than ever just in the first lesson! Despite the fact that I have three books, two manuals and a DVD, the class has allowed me to make this awesome bag! yeah!!

August Craftsy blocks of the month

Well, August has been a busy month and I actually tackled another UFO.  It was a simple task of finishing off placemats that lay dormant for a few months, as I started several other projects.  I remember clearly at the beginning of the year my intent was to complete at least one per month. That really hasn't happened! I am learning to enjoy completed projects though slowly.

Additionally I made a new computer bag from leftover fabric, so I am thrilled with that.  Although it feels I haven't been able to sew as much as I would like, I have to say finishing a UFO, a computer bag and completing the block of the month is not too shabby.  Maybe I can finish the year strong!

I am finally taking time to write again.  As usual,  am shocked that another month has come and gone.  I thought I would write on a weekly basis.  I also thought I would use my stash and stop buying fabric, but that hasn't happened either!  The good news is, I completed the July blocks!  I did use my stash on all of the block so far.  These two were a lot of fun to make.  Now if I can just get focused on the Susan Khalje class and stop buying fabric...

May flew by so quickly

I never made time for a post in May, I haven't even completed the may block of the month for that matter. This is not a good way to begin the month of June! Well, I did make a colonial outfit for my granddaughter for school. She was happy with it! I am still working on the couture dress from Susan Khalje's class. It is a slow process, but I am refining my skills as I go.

Follow-up finally caught up!
Jan through June Blocks

How does time fly by so quickly?  More than half way through April already.  I decided to tackle my UFO (Unfinished objects) pile.  I completed the market bag.  I really love it, and I don't know why I put it down more than a year ago.  It was nice completing it, and I can't wait to use it.  This was a very productive day as I also complete my April piecing for the Craftsy block of the month.

April already!

This year is flying by! I am doing a good job of limiting my fabric purchases and finally using my stash. A male coworker is having a baby girl later this month. I made a male baby bag for him. I hope to finish it today. I made an obvious mistake, but I am going to pass it off as artistic license. Just can't bring myself to take it apart. Time to start on my April blocks!

My first quilt, two blocks at a time

Still excited about the Craftsy website! The free block of the month is a very nice way to ease into quilting. By the end of the year I will have a full quilt. I had a little trouble with this month's blocks, and I may redo them before the final assembly. Also working on the couture dress. Maybe I will finish it and wear it to a luncheon on Friday. Sewing is a great hobby that allows me to create with my hands. Such fun, and so much better than spring cleaning!

I have been reading other blogs for years and have never taken the time to create my own. I thought I would take a stab at it. When I have time, I like to sew. Unfortunately like many others I find it easier to start projects than to finish! I hope to finish a few of the UFO's in my sewing room.  I am hoping that writing this blog will motivate me to complete projects and not just collect fabric.  I am really good at collecting fabric, I have more than I care to admit. You can see a little of it next to my dress. I have signed up for several of the classes over on the Craftsy website, and I really like them.  There is a freebie monthly class for beginning quilter's, which I definitely consider myself. Thought I'd post my latest creation which just needs a hem.
